ShapeMagic - Another great free 3d program!

Shapemagic (2) is another great free 3d program that I have found online! It's a companion program to the ShapeMaker that I have mentioned about earlier in this blog.

Shapemagic is indeed a very good 3D program. Basically what it does is create 3D objects that you can then import into your 3D programs like Bryce and DazStudio.

When you first open the program you are presented with a side view of a randomly created 3D object which you can then "tweak" to make it look the way you want it to. This program is very good for making 3D objects like columns and urns and vases and the like. There are even tutorials provided on their main page to help show you how to make other 3D objects like jewelery and even curtains and drapes.

The main page is loaded with more information about the program and even provides some pre-made objects that you can download and import in the program so that you can "tweak" them yourself.

I have had time to play around with this program and the only real bad thing that I can say about this program is that it is going to distract me from doing my other computer work. Another bad thing about this program is that I am having so much fun creating 3D objects from this program that my computer hard drive space is decreasing!!!

ShapeMagic is available now as a free download and you can find out more about this program by visiting their mainpage. (Which will also link you to a free download of the program.)

I have had a chance to play around with this program and I'll provide pictures of some of the things that I have created with this program.

I should also mention that I was having a little bit of a problem when I first started playing around with the program but I sent the creator of the program an email and he got back to me in no time at all - which I thought was very nice and very sweet! Turns out that the program was fine it was "me" that was the problem because I was trying too hard and to fast to learn the program at one sitting. Now that the problem is solved (actually there wasn't even a problem with the program) I'm creating even more stuff! - Oh where will my obsession end!

Freebie - "Deadly Edges"

I found another interesting free download. However before you can download this freebie you have to become a member of the Daz 3D site - but don't worry because it doesn't cost anything to become a member of the Daz 3D site.

The "Deadly Edges objects are "weapon" objects (which look quite deadly by the way!) and you can see what they look like by viewing the photo above.

I'm interested in models / objects like this because I like to do a lot of gothic-looking renders. Things having to do with witches, fairies, vampires and the like are the kinds of renders that I like to do.

So if you would like a copy of these objects, just click here.

*Please be advised that this freebie will only be free until December 14th, 2010!.

Freebie - Rocks!

Found another interesting "freebie" site. Now I'm sure a lot of people are thinking "who would want to download a bunch of rocks" but if you are a 3D beginner like me then you'll appreciate the 3d freebies that are available out there.

What will I use these free rocks for? Well when making renders that show outside, it would be nice to have rocks included that don't all look the same. I was thinking about creating some of my own rock objects as well.

If you would like to download these free rock objects, just click here.

Renderosity Has An Affiliate Program!

For those of you that don't know Renderosity.com is a web site community for 2D and 3D artists! There are lots of great free downloads of all sorts including object models, backgrounds and other free downloads for other 2D and 3D-related programs like Bryce! There are also message forums and contests and artists have their own marketplace stores where you can purchase their 3D stuff.

If you join the site (it's free to join) and become an affiliate member then you will be able to earn money when you "refer" new members to them.

There are some rules though. First the new member that you refer has to purchase something from the site within 60 days of their joining. When they purchase something within that time period then you get a percentage of the sale. You can either get paid by regular check or by Paypal. You also have to chose a minimum payout amount ($35 or higher).

I still see that a lot of members from the Renderosity.com site still have a few questions about the program - most of those questions answered on the affiliate program page.

So if you're interested in making some extra money online then you should definitely check it out!

Interested In A Free Fractal Program Download?

Fractal Explorer is another free fractal program that you can download for free!

I found out about this fractal program when I mistakenly downloaded a plug-in for the program even before I had the program itself!

I'm just downloading it now so I haven't had a chance to really play around with the program but I will post more about it once I have had a chance to play around with it.

Click here to download the program!

Another Free Download Model! - V4!

Here is yet another free download and this one is from Daz3D! Of course you have to become a member of Daz3d but it doesn't cost anything to join and to become a member.

V4 is an update of V3 - short for the Victoria character model from Poser. It is a base V4 model and it comes with a lot of associated files.

Personally I already have the V3 model and I would like to have the V4 model as well as long as I can be able to use both characters in the same Daz3d program. Even though the V4 character is the most recent version, I'm glad that people are still making V3-related models.

The download file size is just over 15 MB and the sale price of $0 lasts until the year 2017! Click below to go to the download site:

Free Textures

I got a comment from someone who shares my liking of things medieval! He included a link to his website and I went to take a look!

He does indeed have some great-looking textures that are available for free!

The site is Free Textures.com.

I will definitely enjoy using some of these textures!

Of course my hard-drive is getting full these days - LOL!

I hope you enjoy his site as much as I did!

I give this site a big thumbs up!

Are You Interested In Yet Another Free 3D Software Download?

This looks like another great 3D program! I, personally already have Vue6!

You will be able to create some stunning 3D renders with this program! I'm quite sure that the size of this program will be quite large and I'm still debating on whether or not to download it myself because - good grief - I haven't learned all of Vue6 yet-LOL!

To find out more about this program and how you can download it just click here.

23 Megabytes Big!

I'm currently downloading a 23MB sized zip file that is supposed to include the inside of a medievil room!

I found out about this site from Renderosity.com and it includes some great historical-looking buildings including houses.

You can also download this file because it is available as a free download! Just click here to go to the site to be able to download these objects!

I have to say that while these objects are big in size they are definitely worth it if you are looking for some medieval objects to go into your renders.

I find that I LOVE these types of objects and I feel drawn to going for a more "gothic" feel to my 3D renders. This is a very great download site and it has just the kind of 3d objects that I am looking for.

While I'm still working on making my own 3d objects having more of them gives me a lot more to be able to work with.

I love the way that this room looks and I have a feeling that I will be using it a lot in some of my renders. What is also cool is that I can experiment with the textures, changing them to look other ways as well!

If this is an .obj file it will work great with my Vue or my Bryce 3d programs.

Another Free Download! The Ivy Generator!

I can't take the credit for finding this little "gem" of a program! The credit goes to the folks at the Bryce Forum on Delphi.

The Ivy Generator is a program that create ivy that you can include in your 3D renders. Below you will see an example of how one person used the program.

Here is my own little creation that I made while playing around with the program:

The Ivy Generator program is available as a free download from Thomas Luft and it is very generous of him indeed in that he states that you can use your renders for commercial purposes.

I just downloaded this program myself yesterday and I'm learning the program now. It has quite a few settings for how you want your ivy to look and those are the settings that I am learning.

A Career In 3D Art? Here's One Person That Has It!

Since I am a member of Renderosity.com I have had a chance to see the works of other 3D artists as well and some of their work is so good!

There is one artist there named Duo (who lives in Italy by the way) who has a website where they list the clients that they have had. This is a very impressive list and it brings hope to my own aspirations of having a 3D career as well!

Some of the work that they have done for clients include CD covers, magazine covers and providing online graphics for their websites.

I also have a Working From Home Blog where I talk about the endless possibilities there are out there for one to be able to work from home and being a 3D Artist is another great example of this.

So if you are a 3D artist or just beginning to get into 3D, please be sure to visit their site. It should provide great inspiration to those who are thinking about having a career in 3D design and it will show you the possibilities that are out there.

Their website also includes some 3D models that you can download and use in Bryce versions 4 - 5.

Blender - Having A Difficult "Go" At It..........................

Blender is proving to be quite a difficult program for me to understand! Mind you it took me some time to grasp the principles of Vue and even Bryce for that matter but the Blender 3d program is proving to be quite difficult for me to understand. I do have a small manual that I downloaded but I haven't gone through it yet. It's just that everytime I open the program and decide to play around with it I get frustrated!

Hopefully given some time I will be better able to understand this program.

My 3D Page!

Long before I had this blog, I had a 3d website where I posted about my interest in 3d designing. The site was hosted on AOL. However AOL has discontinued it's web page hosting so I had to move my page to another host!

Well I was finally able to move my 3D page! You can get to it by clicking here.

My page also includes some of my other renders as well as links to some 3d-related information such as free downloads and such!

I'm also thinking about selling some of my own object from this site as well!

Vue6 - I Am Still Learning!

As I said before I'm still learning how to use this program. I have also mentioned that I have the Personal Limited Edition and that puts watermarks and the Vue6 logo on all the renders.

I'm getting a lot more interested in this 3d program so I decided to find out how much the real version costs. First I found out that I have the Personal Limited Edition of Vue6 Infinite! To buy the full program costs $695. It is definitely on my "wish list!

To find out more about this program (and also where to download the Personal Limited Edition) just click here.

I'm currently on page 125 of the tutorial and here is how my work looks so far:

I'm currently working with the eco-systems aspect of Vue6 which involves being able to (and create) objects as part of an ecosystem. For instance in the picture above you can see some grass and rocks - all put in using the ecosystem option.

Instead of placing an object one at a time, the ecosystem lets you place as many of an object that you want and it even slightly changes the look of the object so that they all won't look the same!

Want Some Free GREAT Castle Models?

I just joined this site called Cornucopia3d that has message forums relating to the 3d graphics program Vue!

Right now I reading the threads where everyone is introducing themselves and I am enjoying reading about everyone! A lot of the people there have professional 3d graphics careers! (Which would be great info for my Working From Home blog) I'm also encouraged by the lot of different age ranges of the individual artists!

One particular member caught my eye when they talked about their 3d graphic models that they have made. I went to their site and saw CASTLES! - which I LOVE! I love being able to make 3d medeavil scenes and castles are a big part of that!

I should tell you that these models are large in size! I'm downloading one castle model now and its over 30 MB's in size!

But they look great and I hope you enjoy using them!

V3!

V3 stands for Victoria 3 which is a basic female 3d model in Poser!

While I still have only Poser's original version, I DO have a free copy of Daz Studio that was available as a free download and it included the basic V3 female character! It also came with an assortment of other things which resulted in the picture that you see above - (that I made!) This free download of Daz Studio came with all sorts of stuff! For female 3D models I have Victoria3, Aiko 3 and for a male 3D model I have Michael 3! The program also came with fairy-like props for V3 including wings, shoes, wand and a fairy dress which has several different textures to make the fairy dress look different!

While I'm having a lot of fun with the stuff that was included with the program I'm also itching to make a lot of other different kinds of renders and I am finding a lot of free props, clothing and hair for the Victoria 3 model! Right now I'm downloading some free 3d hair and clothing props for the V3 model. You can find some great 3D conforming clothes for Victoria 3 by clicking here and you can find a couple of good 3D hair models for the V3 character by clicking here.

TrueSpace Now Available As A Free Download!

TrueSpace 7.6 is a very powerful 3D Graphics Program! (I should also tell you that it is a very powerful and big graphics program!) It is now being made available as a free download - and it's a very big download at that! Here is just a bit more information about the program:

"trueSpace7.6 is a fully-featured 3D authoring package that will let you model, texture, light, animate and render 3D content. As well as traditional images and movies, you can also make 3D content for online shared spaces, and for Virtual Earth."

I downloaded the program myself (and of course it took a long while! When I first opened it up I realized that I was going to have to have some sort of tutorial besides me because this 3D program has a lot of options! What I'm most interested in is being able to make characters and there are lots of different examples of characters being modeled using the Truespace program. Since I have just downloaded the program I have only had time to look around. Hopefully I will be able to create something and post it here.

You can find out more about this powerful 3D program and how to download it by clicking here.

October 2010 Update!

For those of you that are still looking for a free download of this program you can still download a free version by clicking here.

Shapemaker

ShapeMaker is another 3D modeling program that I was able to download for free! As you can see by this picture, the program makes shapes such as tree stumps and logs and even flower petals! You can also make vases with the program too.

For me it was difficult to get the "gist" of this program at first but the more I play around with the program, the more better I am understanding it.

So far I create the shapes in the Shapemaker program and then import them into Bryce where I add the textures/materials.

It's quite something that I have all these 3D modeling programs that I'm going to create all my "art" with!

You can visit the site and find out more about this program by clicking here.

However I think I should warn you that I just visited the site today and notice that they now have support for the program BUT that support costs $150 an hour!
