Terregen 2

Below is a render that I did using Terragen 2.

I must say that T2 is a hard program (at least for me it is) to learn. I also have a copy of Terregen and Terregen2. The main difference between Terregen and Terregen 2 is that the #2 version lets you add objects to your renders. It is a free download so if you're interesting in finding out more about these programs just click here.

Terragen Contests

I am a big fan of Terragen which is a 3D program that lets you create terrains and landscapes.  If you look at the picture on the right, this is one of the renders that I made using the Terragen program.

Since I have been having fun with the program for a while now I have started to enter Terragen-related contests online.

One of the contests that I try to enter on a regular basis is on Renderosity.

If you are interested in entering these contests, just click here to find out more about how to enter these kinds of contests.

One Of My Terragen Renders

Here is one of the renders that I created last year using the Terragen program. I entered it in one of the Terragen-related contests.

The Terragen program is available as a free download (please see my other Terragen-related posts) and it is a terrain generating program.

It lets you create, edit and modify terrains. The program also has an option of you adding water to your terrain for sea-like renders. You can also edit the atmosphere and the clouds - as you can see from the picture above.

Terragen - One of my contest entries!

Here is one of my Terragen renders that I entered in a contest on Renderosity.com. I didn't win but it was fun coming up with the creation!

In case you didn't know, Terragen is a 3d graphics program that creates terrains! You can find out more about this program by clicking here. It is also available as a free download - in fact there are 2 versions of this program!

Terragen 2 - Contests!

Terragen 2 is a very much more sophisticated terrain generating 3D Program. It has a lot of more powerful features that the original Terragen program. It is also available as a free download as well! You can find out more about the program by clicking here

If you already have this program then you may be interested to know that there is a Terragen contest regularly on Renderosity.com which is a place where "us" 3D Artists hang out! - LOL!

If you're interested in finding out more about these contests just click here.

World Machine!

For all of you Terragen lovers out there I have found a great program that you can use in conjunction with the Terragen program! (Actually I didn't find it - the good folks at Renderosity's Terragen Forum recommended this program.

It is a separate program that lets you create and modify 3D terrains that you can then import in Terragen. You can build some stunning-looking terrains with this program! I'm still learning it myself and you can see my progress so far:

You see, with using the Terragen program you can still create some good-looking terrains like so:

But with the World Machine Program you can also import .bmp files into the World Machine Program and add different "filters to it and get some very good looking effercts.

Here is currently a work-in-progress that I am currently working on:

It's called:

Ancient Ruins!

You can find out more about World Machine (including a free download of the program) by clicking here!

Contests

Lately I have been entering some of the contests on Renderosity.com.

To be able to enter their contests you do have to join as a member but joining as a member is free.

So far I have entered two of their Teragen-related contents. Teragen is a terrain generating program that you can download for free. (Please see my previous posts on this program)

Even entering their contests is a big move forward for me. I always thought about how I would like to enter their contests but I never did in the past because I was always doing my grant research work on the computer and never really did any "fun" things on my computer.

Now that has changed.

All work and no play makes Rose a dull kind of gal!

By the way, I haven't won any of the contests yet but there have been people that voted for me!

Terragen

Terragen is a terrain generator program that is available as a free download from the Planetside website.

Currently I'm working on a terrain from the Renderosity Terragen Challenge so that I can enter their latest Terragen Challenge. This challenge involves downloading the terragen file specified for the monthly challenge and then creating a "look" for it. One of the rules is that you can't change / alter the landscape. But what you can do is give it different cloud, atmosphere and sun settings. And I just found out today that you can also change the surface of the landscape meaning you can make the landscape itself look different - ie snow, grass, soil, etc.

If you would like to take part in this (and the other) monthly terragen challenges you first have to become a member of Renderosity.

I have had and used this program before - just for my own pleasure - and you can see one of my renderings below:

So I'm off to fine-tune my Terragen challenge..........................
