I finally managed to start and I'm having a lot of fun! If I just remember to take my time and go slowly I will be able to produce some very good 3d designs.
Also I realize that there may be many people out there that are new to 3d designing too. So follow my journey.....Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.comBlogger76125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2868611581280357002.post-3265764456054934402014-02-17T16:17:00.000-05:002014-02-17T16:24:56.359-05:00Terregen 2Below is a render that I did using Terragen 2.

I must say that T2 is a hard program (at least for me it is) to learn.
I also have a copy of Terregen and Terregen2.
The main difference between Terregen and Terregen 2 is that the #2 version lets you add objects to your renders.
It is a free download so if you're interesting in finding out more about these programs just click <a href="http://planetside.co.uk/ target="_blank">here.Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2868611581280357002.post-12978271136379812772013-12-26T11:23:00.000-05:002013-12-26T11:23:34.998-05:00Let's Draw! The images below are what I got from playing around with the demo version of a program called "Let's Draw". This program lets you make caricatures of people. The demo version is quite limited in what you can do but as you can see there are many options to choose from when making a render

I was playing around with my computer and noticed that I still have the "Let's Draw Program

The "Let's Draw" program let's you create caricatures. The demo version comes with some presets so that you can pick and choose. Then if you like the program you can get the full version that has even more presets that you can use.

Well it took me a LONG time to get to this point but I finally created my first tutorial! It's about how to create a lot of rocks in Bryce!

Of course it took me a long time to do this tutorial but I finally got it done.

How did I think of this?

Well Bryce is a really great program for making 3D scenes and scenery and I have made a lot of renders but it always bothered me when I was making rocks that I would have to copy and paste the rocks over and over again if I wanted a lot of rocks in my scenes. And then the idea just came to me and I tested it out first and it worked!

Here is the link to my tutorial - the tutorial is in .pdf format and you should be able to download it quite easily!
These are rose objects that I made in the 3D program Plant Studio and I imported them into my Bryce 3D program!.

PlantStudio is a program that as it's name says creates all different sorts of plants and flowers and in this case - even roses. It is available as a free download and all you have to do is "google" for it.

It's a very good program for creating 3D Plant objects but I have to warn you that this program has a lot of options you can use to edit your plants and if you're anything like me you just might spend hours playing around with this program!

So like I said - I created the rose objects in plant studio and then I imported them into Bryce.

I'm still working / deciding on a way to offer my objects as a free download (that is if anyone is interested in them - LOL!) Since I'm still working on that I'll let you know when I can get it right and get it done.

Here is Rose 06 of my Roses Sample Collection!

I made these roses in Plant Studio and then I uv-mapped them (which means I added the different colors to the parts of the rose) using UV Mapper.

I'm pretty sure I made the vase using S Patch and I imported the vase into Bryce and gave it its white color. Now S Patch lets you export in .dxf and this is a format that Bryce recognizes so I was easily able to import the vase into Bryce.

The same thing goes with the rose where Plant Studio lets you export in .dxf format. Another good thing about importing the rose into Bryce was that I was able to color the rose parts individually which is something a little bit more easier to do than to UV map them which takes longer and is quite a detailed thing to do!

I'm just "getting" on the idea that I can upload my original creations so that others who may want to download them can do so! I have already started to upload some of my 3D stuff and if you would like to see them and decide whether or not you would like to download them just visit here.

Shapemagic (2) is another great free 3d program that I have found online! It's a companion program to the ShapeMaker that I have mentioned about earlier in this blog.

Shapemagic is indeed a very good 3D program. Basically what it does is create 3D objects that you can then import into your 3D programs like Bryce and DazStudio.

When you first open the program you are presented with a side view of a randomly created 3D object which you can then "tweak" to make it look the way you want it to. This program is very good for making 3D objects like columns and urns and vases and the like. There are even tutorials provided on their main page to help show you how to make other 3D objects like jewelery and even curtains and drapes.

The main page is loaded with more information about the program and even provides some pre-made objects that you can download and import in the program so that you can "tweak" them yourself.

I have had time to play around with this program and the only real bad thing that I can say about this program is that it is going to distract me from doing my other computer work. Another bad thing about this program is that I am having so much fun creating 3D objects from this program that my computer hard drive space is decreasing!!!

ShapeMagic is available now as a free download and you can find out more about this program by visiting their mainpage. (Which will also link you to a free download of the program.)

I have had a chance to play around with this program and I'll provide pictures of some of the things that I have created with this program.

I should also mention that I was having a little bit of a problem when I first started playing around with the program but I sent the creator of the program an email and he got back to me in no time at all - which I thought was very nice and very sweet! Turns out that the program was fine it was "me" that was the problem because I was trying too hard and to fast to learn the program at one sitting. Now that the problem is solved (actually there wasn't even a problem with the program) I'm creating even more stuff! - Oh where will my obsession end!

DazStudio is a free 3D graphics program that I was able to download. If you do a little checking around you will be able to find quite a number of free 3d graphics programs that you can download!

This free 3D program included the V3 and M3 characters which allowed me to be able to make some very good renders.

Basically this program came with more of a "fairy" aspect to it. It includes fairy clothes and fairy-like atmospheres which provides a good starting point for me as I'm learning more about 3D creating.

As you can see from the picture above the human female model, clothes and environment are also included with the program. With this program I can do many things! For instance I can change the look of the female, I can make here look younger or older, I can even make her look different ethnic ways. I can pose her body including her arms and legs to differnet posing positions. I can even animate the figure - though I'm still learning how to do that.

Everything that you see in the render has been provided by the DazStudio program. It's a great free 3D program to help you learn more about creating 3D renders.
A friend of mine entered a video songwriting contest! What it is about is that the company posts a video of their commercial and then the contestants can compose a song for it.

The videos (with the music included) are then posted to YouTube. Take a look at the video and you can post your comments about it on my YouTube page.

Taking a little break from my usual 3D routine I found this program that has been on my computer for a while.

The program is called "Let's Draw" and as you can see its kind of a cartoon-like drawing program.

Since I have the demo version the options are limited but with a little imagination you can create a lot of good-looking cartoon / caricature-like pictures.

This 2D program was available as a free download and I'm sure that if you just do a google search for this program (Let's Draw) then you should be able to still download the program for free!
If you look at the picture on the right, this is one of the renders that I made using the Terragen program.

Since I have been having fun with the program for a while now I have started to enter Terragen-related contests online.

One of the contests that I try to enter on a regular basis is on Renderosity.
Here is one of the renders that I created last year using the Terragen program. I entered it in one of the Terragen-related contests.

The Terragen program is available as a free download (please see my other Terragen-related posts) and it is a terrain generating program.
It lets you create, edit and modify terrains. The program also has an option of you adding water to your terrain for sea-like renders. You can also edit the atmosphere and the clouds - as you can see from the picture above.
Someone posted something interesting:

Hi, i want somebody's help who is able to write a script:

to get a palette of colors around my source input color:
.5 steps darker and 5 steps lighter,
.5 steps more saturated and 5 steps less saturated,
.5 steps brighter grey and 5 steps darker gray,

organized in tree blocks, divided by a black delimiter. The gradations
should fit into the available range of tonal values.

This message was listed in one of the Gimp-related forums and here is a link to the forum.
However before you can download this freebie you have to become a member of the Daz 3D site - but don't worry because it doesn't cost anything to become a member of the Daz 3D site.

The "Deadly Edges objects are "weapon" objects (which look quite deadly by the way!) and you can see what they look like by viewing the photo above.

I'm interested in models / objects like this because I like to do a lot of gothic-looking renders. Things having to do with witches, fairies, vampires and the like are the kinds of renders that I like to do.

So if you would like a copy of these objects, just click here.

*Please be advised that this freebie will only be free until December 14th, 2010!.
Found another interesting "freebie" site. Now I'm sure a lot of people are thinking "who would want to download a bunch of rocks" but if you are a 3D beginner like me then you'll appreciate the 3d freebies that are available out there.

What will I use these free rocks for? Well when making renders that show outside, it would be nice to have rocks included that don't all look the same. I was thinking about creating some of my own rock objects as well.

If you would like to download these free rock objects, just click here.

Of course this was made with Bryce. Most of the other objects that you see here with the exception of the buildings on the sides were objects I created in Bryce. The two side buildings were free downloads that I got off of the internet.

As far as the roses go it looks as though I am getting much better at uv-mapping them.

This is the Rose object #4

Here I uv-mapped the rose object and it came out looking quite nice!

The 2 buildings that you see in the background were from free downloads that I got online.

The other vegation that you see were other plants that I created using Plant Studio.

Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2868611581280357002.post-85673639192702182262010-10-25T18:22:00.003-04:002010-10-25T18:22:37.884-04:00Rose 03 Render

Here is a render that I made of the Rose #3 model that I created in PlantStudio. It's just a general picture showing what the rose #3 model looks like.

This render was created using Vue6's personal limited edition!

This next render was created using Bryce (which I find a little bit easier to use than Vue because VUE seems to use up a lot of my computer's resources. Again this is a render to show what the Rose #3 model looks like when it is uv-mapped.

The other plants that you see I also created using Plant Studio. The mausoleum that you see was a free download. And if you can see it in the background, the building structure was also a free download. Everything else that you see (including the stone cross) I made myself.

I have since come to find out that flower objects are composed of a LOT of polygons! What this means is that the bigger the number of polygons the more complicated the object and the longer it may take to load and render.Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2868611581280357002.post-44897595260185010462010-10-18T17:09:00.004-04:002010-10-18T17:28:06.223-04:00Rose 02 Render<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ovlagiWpCW8/TLy37yrDd0I/AAAAAAAAAbU/Gpp5nmz4Fc8/s400/Rose02-render-vue.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529496680346646338" />
Here you see a render of the Rose 02 object that I created in Plant Studio and rendered in Vue 6 - Personal Limited Edition.

Now if you look very closely at the rose you will see that it's not completely colored - at least not to my satisfaction!

Well I do want to get it right. So what am I going to do? Well I think that first I am going to re uv-map this rose object. For some reason the uv map that I was using doesn't seem to be working too well so I'll just "bite the bullet" and re-map the rose object.

One thing that I am learning from all of this is patience!

Since I'm going to be offering these Rose objects for sale I think that it would behoove me to get the texture maps right - at least to my satisfaction. I am going to use the UV Mapper program for this. It is available as a free download! You can find out more about this program by clicking here.

For right now the render that you see was made in VUE 6.

Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2868611581280357002.post-28868483699873068272010-10-13T19:23:00.002-04:002010-10-13T19:34:38.507-04:00Rose 01 Render

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ovlagiWpCW8/TLZADO2WqyI/AAAAAAAAAbM/ECCjQcgM4V4/s400/Rose01-uvmapped-render.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527676016913722146" />
My current project involves my Rose models!

As you can see from the picture above I have completed Rose #1. The rose object was created using PlantStudio. After I created the rose object in PlantStudio I then saved it as an .obj. The next step was to UV map the rose object which just means that I "fragmented" it so that I could add color / surface / materials to it. I used the UV Mapper program to do this.

Once I added colors to the object, the color / texture map was saved.

Next I imported the rose #1 object into Bryce. Once I uploaded the rose object into Bryce I could then add the texture map that I created for the rose object from the UV Mapper program.

And the final result you see here.

Now as you can see the rose(s) look kind of "light in color but since this is Rose #1 I have had time to learn more about UV mapping. I'm going to go back and re-texture this so that it looks more better.

Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2868611581280357002.post-74732654561434212952010-09-30T14:50:00.002-04:002010-09-30T14:59:46.780-04:00Terragen - One of my contest entries!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ovlagiWpCW8/TKTcSAk3wvI/AAAAAAAAAa0/AXc_sGroOEo/s400/1005-entry.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522781245013476082" />
Here is one of my Terragen renders that I entered in a contest on Renderosity.com.
